Rail Budget: Not a single thing for Udaipur (Mewar)

Nobody mention of Udaipur-Ahmadabad gauge conversion

Rail Ministry, which had been a highly politicized department of the Central Government for past couple of decades, presented its Indian rail budget today. It was bound to be a complex situation for the Rail Minister Sadananda gowda not only because this particular department had always been with collaborative parties and condition of Indian Railways is very poor.

“Barasat kai sath rail budget ne bhi sukha rekha Mewar ko”

Mewar did not get what it expected. The biggest disappointment was no mention of already approved project, Udaipur-Ahmadabad broad gauge conversion. The project has been stalled for past many years because of low funds.

It is the long dreamt project for Udaipur people Udaipur-Ahmedabad broad gauge conversion project in the upcoming railway budget. Look at the bus tickets prices how they are going up and biggest point on this route bus provider always has their monopoly.

Both Udaipur and Ahmedabad are the dead end, if these two station connected then easily Delhi-Mumbai trains can be increase.

Current Situation:
Udaipur-Bandra train: Its seems like this train is only for Shreenath ji visitor (Gujraties) and little bit for MP peoples not for Udaipur because of following reasons:
1. Its timing is so odd
2. Amount of time it will take (normal bus will take 12-13 hours to reach Udaipur from Mumbai but this express train took more than 16 hours)
3. Around 150Km extra run to reach daily basis

Following information referenced from http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/Sanction-Rs200-cr-for-gauge-conversion-project-or-dump-it/articleshow/28531152.cms

The gauge conversion plan was sanctioned in 2008 and was projected to be completed by 2015 at an estimated cost of Rs 800 crore. In five years, Rs 100 crore has been sanctioned against which Rs 24 crores have been released so far for conversion work. However, railway board authorities have many times said the project doesn’t feature in their target list. The construction cost has arose many times as compared to the budget sanctioned.
